Modbus Communications example

Hi, I am trying to communicate to a TER-MOD-LCD unit with Modbus. I am able to get some responses with correct CRC, but it's as if I just get error codes back.

For example, trying to send a temperature read request, I send the following byte sequence: 0x01, 0x04, 0x01, 0xe3, 0x00 (modbus-address, function code, register, crc-low, crc-high).

I receive then 0x01, 0x84, 0x03, 0x03, 0x01 where I presume the first byte is the address, not sure about the next two (error code?) but the last two bytes are a matching CRC.

Can you provide an example of how this should work?

Thanks,

Sverrir
